The Outset, A Very Good Place to Start
Queer narratives tend to focus on the struggle; here, we focus on the joy of existing.
The Outset Project
It took me nearly four decades to embrace my identity and even more time to value the moments I never really see reflected onscreen, on paper, or in any representation of the LGBTQIA+ community.
We see a lot of despair in queer narratives alongside a lot of dysfunction, a lot of what goes wrong. But what about when things go right, even if what is right doesn’t always last?
I am seeking stories you might want to share related to the beginning of anything in your journey, in your relationships, romantic and otherwise. Stories that you might want a reader or audience to appreciate or consider when they think of us as multidimensional parts of the culture at large.
The outcomes of the relationships are not as important as their impact on your journey towards an authentic “you.”
If you are interested, contact me, and I can go over the process of cultivating the outset of your narrative.
This project is in the earliest stages, with the first few short stories being published May 2, 2021.
Thank you,
Emily & Tracy
